Wine, Pleasure and Health
Wine - the most prized treasure from Bernkastel-Kues
We invite you to try our region's noble drops at the various vineyards and wine bars!

The Moselle region is known in particular for its fruity and mild Riesling wines. They once founded the good reputation of German wine all over the world and are appreciated especially in the USA. But local winegrowers also produce extraordinary dry Riesling wines which experts hold in high esteem because of their fruity nuances, their aroma and their mineral fullness.

The wine is grown on steep slopes rising up to 60 degrees and on terraces with Mediterranean flair. The mild micro climate and the slaty soil, which stores the warmth, provide ideal conditions for the Riesling vines. The range of individual nuances of Riesling wines is fascinating. But Riesling is not the only type of grape of this region - fresh Elbling, Rivaner, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris are part of the winegrowers' assortments - as well as red wines like Pinot Noir and Dornfelder. So it's no wonder that Bernkastel- Kues attracts thousands of visitors every year - especially in autumn, during the vintage. But every season offers its delicacies to those who like to be tempted!
Wine and Health - Nature's Treasures

In a time when health is once again our most prized possession, wine has gained an all new significance. In addition to pure enjoyment, it is increasingly known that the properties of wine and the vine offer unique health advantages; for example, cold-pressed grape seed oil is an excellent basis for tasty and healthy nutrition. This is also the basis of the creed of Bernkastel-Kues:
In Vino Sanitas - In Wine There Is Health

The exquisite Mosel wines are - when enjoyed in moderation - an excellent addition to healthy, well-balanced and delicious nutrition practices. Along with walks and hikes or even a bike tour through the cultural wine landscape of the Mosel - and you're doing the best for your health, combining moderate movement with pleasurable and healthy sustenance. Here you can recover from your everyday life, prevent stress-induced illness and return home from your vacation full of energy.
Wine, Grape Harvest and Vacation

When the days become shorter in the fall and the Mosel Valley is illuminated in the intensive light of an Indian summer, jovial activities break out on the slopes along the Mosel. Hundreds of wine makers and seasonal harvest workers go to work gathering the gold of the Mosel. The wine tastes best where it grows and is directly harvested. For wine lovers, a trip to the Mosel in the fall during harvest is especially appealing. Ask your favorite winemaker - many offer the opportunity to help out for a day during harvest. In doing so, you won't just intimately experience your fascination with wine; you'll also get to know the proverbial Moselaner hospitality when you share a hearty meal after the hard work is done!
Wine-Tasting

A special highlight to your trip, no matter the time of year you visit festive Bernkastel-Kues, is of course trying the wine directly at the winery. Go for a winery tasting and try different types of wine and be sure to take a tour of the cellars while you're there. We invite you to try our region's noble drops at the various vineyards and wine bars!
